Overview -

Migrating a UK healthcare platform’s website from WordPress Elementor to a fast, modern Next.js build.

‍

EARL is a UK clinical software platform built by NHS clinicians for emergency departments and NHS Trusts. It lets clinicians refer any patient to any service in under 60 seconds, manage clinical guidelines, run education portals, and send automated patient communications, all with NHS-grade data security. EARL is also an approved supplier on the UK Government’s G-Cloud framework.

GIXEZ IT migrated the EARL website from WordPress and Elementor to Next.js. We rebuilt every page, including the homepage, case studies, compliance and governance information, service status, and blog, as a fast, secure, and modern web application. The result is a website that loads quickly, scores well for accessibility and search, and reflects the quality of a platform trusted by NHS clinicians.

Challenge -

Moving a live healthcare website to a new platform without losing content, rankings, or trust.

‍

EARL’s audience includes NHS clinicians, department leads, and procurement teams. These are people who expect a fast, professional, and secure experience. The existing WordPress and Elementor website had become slower and harder to maintain, and it no longer matched the standard of the EARL product itself.

The migration came with strict requirements. Every page, blog post, and case study had to move across without breaking links or losing search rankings. As a healthcare supplier, EARL also needed the new site to meet high accessibility standards in line with WCAG, handle UK cookie consent correctly, and present detailed compliance and governance information clearly to NHS buyers.

Solutions -

A component-based Next.js rebuild with SEO, accessibility, and performance built in.

‍

We rebuilt the EARL website in Next.js as a library of reusable components, so every page shares the same consistent design: the navigation, hero sections, page banners with breadcrumbs, content cards, and accordions. The homepage features a bold hero with highlighted key messages, two clear calls to action, and an illustrated scene of clinicians surrounded by icons representing EARL’s features. An “Open EARL” button in the header gives existing users quick access to the platform.

We carefully moved all of EARL’s content into the new build, including blog posts and case studies, which are now presented as category-tagged cards. The Compliance & Governance page organizes accessibility, security, and data protection information into easy-to-scan accordions for NHS buyers. To protect EARL’s search rankings, we kept the URL structure, set up redirects, and carried over page titles, meta descriptions, and sitemaps.

Next.js page pre-rendering and optimized images make every page load quickly on desktop and mobile. We built with accessibility in mind, using semantic HTML, keyboard-friendly navigation, and strong colour contrast. A cookie settings manager lets visitors control their preferences in line with UK privacy rules. The result is a faster, more secure, and easier-to-maintain website that matches the standard of the EARL platform.
